Halfords was founded by Frederick Rushbrooke in Birmingham as an ironmongery wholesaler in 1892, and has since grown to encompass many hundreds of shops and vehicle repair centres throughout the United Kingdom. Pre war, Halfords was a Meccano agent, offering a range of products including Meccano construction sets, Hornby Trains and Dinky Toys.
