Electrotren 0 Gauge

( Madrid (Barcelona) Spain)

Josfel was formed in Barcelona during WWII by JOSé FELiu who produced toy trains aimed at the more wealthy market. During the late 1940s, Feliu emigrated to South America, leaving his business in the hands of experienced salesman Jaime González Forrellac. Shortly thereafter, González and his partner Ignacio Cuatrecases purchased the Josfel business from José Feliu. During 1951 Ignacio Cuatrecases exited the business, and Jaime González Forrellac launched a new business, Electrotren.

The first Electrotren catalogue, issued in 1951, illustrated a full range of 0 gauge trains including locomotives, passenger and freight cars, buildings and accessories. Electrotren relocated from Barcelona to Madrid in 1954, after which Spanish outline H0 models were produced, using the Marklin three rail system with AC motors. Electrotren manufactured Marklin H0 track under licence until 1991, and became part of Hornby International in 2004.

For the full story of Josfel and Electrotren, with illustrations, see the Spanish Railmotif site.
